About FirstShare

History

FIRST SHARE is the brainchild of a successful, client-focused financial advisor and several of her clients. The idea for FIRST SHARE was conceived in the early 1990s as a way for investors to economically acquire their first, qualifying share of stock in companies that offered DRIP programs for existing shareholders. These companies required that investors own at least one share of the company's stock in direct registration in order to participate in the company's DRIP program.

Acquiring that first share through a traditional stock broker, at the time, was extremely cost prohibitive. FIRST SHARE helped its member to minimize costs by matching a FIRST SHARE member who wishes to buy stock in a particular company with a FIRST SHARE member who is willing to sell a single share of such stock to another FIRST SHARE member.

While FIRST SHARE has grown and evolved over the years, the mission remains the same.

Mission

Our core mission is to help investors minimize the costs of investing by helping them avoid excessive brokerage fees and commissions. We believe that building a successful, and sufficient, investment portfolio requires: 1) Consistent investing; 2) Diversification; and 3) Minimal costs. Our program is set up to help you with all of the above.

We believe that DRIPs and DPPs can help put your investment program on auto-pilot, making it more likely that you'll stick with it for the long-term.
